We are looking for a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our Life Sciences group and play a key role in developing a customized, royalty-free alternative to our current ActivePDF solution. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in backend development, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions. As a Backend Engineer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement scalable and efficient backend solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement scalable and efficient backend solutions to replace our current ActivePDF solution.
- Collaborate with front-end developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and define technical specifications.
- Develop RESTful APIs and backend services using C#, .NET Framework, .Net Core, and Azure technologies.
- Implement best practices for code quality, performance, scalability, and security.
- Conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement and mentor junior developers.
- Work closely with DevOps engineers to implement CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes.
- Monitor backend systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure system reliability and availability.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to make informed decisions about technology selection and implementation.
Requirements:
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
- Demonstrated experience developing software in an organization using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
- Familiarity with coding best practices, design patterns, and software development lifecycle methodologies.
- Proficiency in Windows, C#, .NET Framework 4.1 and above (ASP.Net, MVC, MVVM), .Net Core 3.0 and above, Azure (CI/CD), SQL, and GIT.
- 7+ years of experience in backend development.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with Windows Log (nLogger), knowledge of self-signed certificates, and experience with Active PDF.
