We are seeking two highly skilled Software Engineers to join our Data Enablement initiative on a contractual basis. These professionals will play a pivotal role in accelerating our transition towards a fully self-service data ecosystem. The objective of this engagement is to unlock internal engineering capacity by enabling scalable, secure, and autonomous data access and management solutions, ensuring continuity of product efficiency even beyond the contract term.
The contractors will integrate with our clientβs Data Infrastructure & Self-Service Capabilities team, contributing to critical ongoing projects related to indexing infrastructure, self-service enablement, cloud migration, metadata management, and compliance tooling.
Manage customer-driven feature requests from the backlog.
Lead migration efforts to SQL Aurora.
Upgrade frontend technologies to React IFL and integrate with Swift 2.0.
Document and address security gaps in Adaptive Shield, including strategic decisions around Looker Studio compliance.
Build a POC for role access via Snotown across all databases.
Empower data owners to autonomously manage access within their respective datasets.
Address recurrent support requests (e.g., additional storage, new database provisioning).
Prepare and coordinate the migration from data.world to Amplify, ensuring platform stability during transition.
Implement the strategy to upgrade from Swift 1.0 to Swift 2.0, ensuring minimal disruption.
Facilitate Indeedβs ecosystem-wide adoption of AWS Glue, Athena, Trino, and Swift.
Resolve pain points by developing structured support models and automation tools.
Reduce technical debt and build self-service capabilities for compliance and dataset governance.
Develop critical features for Amplify to replace data.world.
Enable seamless metadata synchronization with the metadata bus.
Provide support for Security & Trust teams, particularly around Data Privacy Strategy (Q2 FY2024).
Manage data lifecycle operations (retention, deletion, compliance).
Contribute to the development of the Data Compliance Platform, particularly in access control and metadata updates.
Implement RBAC experiences and support UI integrations for long-term maintainability.
5+ years of development experience in backend systems using Java and/or Scala.
Strong understanding of distributed data platforms and cloud-native services.
Proven experience developing Apache Spark applications.
Deep familiarity with database systems and data warehousing technologies.
Knowledge of AWS data ecosystem (e.g., Glue, Athena, S3, Trino) is highly desirable.
Strong proficiency with JavaScript and CSS frameworks built on Bootstrap.
Experience working with frontend modernization projects and component libraries.
Ability to collaborate across UI/UX, backend, and DevSecOps teams.
Ability to work autonomously and within distributed teams.
Strong documentation habits and experience collaborating via asynchronous tools.
A proactive mindset aligned with DevOps, security, and data governance best practices.
